Ruckus hit the Sindh Assembly session on Monday, as the opposition parties- Pakistan Muslim League-Functional and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), accused the ruling Pakistan People's Party (PPP) of massive corruption. The opposition parties also criticised the Sindh Senior Education Minister, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro for allegedly attending a dance party, as the PML-F lady lawmaker claimed she had the video of the party in her cell phone.
The pandemonium stirred the opposition lawmakers criticism and allegations continued till the chairman Murad Ali Shah adjourned the session for Tuesday (today) morning. Sindh Minister for Prisons, Mines and Minerals Manzoor Wasaan responded the allegation with counter allegations on the PML-F's former ministers that also added fuel to the disorder.
The assembly was in its pre-budget discussion, when the legislators emerged expressly. Nusrat Sehar Abbasi in her speech called the Sindh government as 'most corrupt' and said that the Nisar Khuhro had participated in a dance party with pointing at a video in her mobile phone.
When the chair switched off her microphone, the PML-F and PML-N lawmakers raised voices to protest the move and asked for more time to her. When she was allowed to speak further, she continued with her allegations against the provincial government. Citing the auditor general's report, she charged the Sindh government for Rs 22 billion financial embezzlements and also asked Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon to present the details about his claim of appointment of terrorists in Karachi Water and Sewerage Board.
Lawmakers from the opposition parties even remained noisy when Manzoor Wasaan was allowed to make a pre-budget proposal for the next financial year. The opposition parties did not allow the minister to speak fluently. Muttahida Qaumi Movement's Muhammad Hussain complained about the other opposition parties' clamour and observed the verbal clash was wasting the assembly time to finish up the main agenda of the day. Sharjeel Memon asked the chairman to reallocate time for Wasaan to speak as he had been inaudible due to noise.
Making a counter allegation, Wasaan accused PML-F's former minister of financial corruption and illegally land allotments, besides extortions and plots grabbing close to River Indus. He said that there should be an investigation whether the PML-F was indirectly financing terrorism in Karachi. MQM's Sabir Qaimkhani, Dilawar Qureshi, Rashid Khilji, Poonjo Mal Bheel, PPP's Khursheed Junejo, Irum Khalid, Nusrat Sultana, PML-N's Surath Thebo and PML-F's Dr Rafiq Babhan also spoke.
