LAHORE: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) Monday urged all the political parties and public circles to ensure peaceful elections in the country.
LCCI Acting President Khawaja Khawar Rasheed, Vice President Zeshan stated here that peaceful elections were vital at this crucial time when the country was facing a number of internal and external challenges.
They were of the view that future of Pakistan was linked with peaceful general election.
The LCCI office-bearers said that Pakistan was an important country of South Asia and entire world was focused on its general election.
They added that violence in the elections would give a negative message to the world that would particularly hit the trust of foreign investors hard besides shattering the confidence of the local businessmen.
The LCCI office-bearers said that ongoing situation demanded maturity by the political parties, citing that a week of stalled economic activity cost the country $ 500 million or $2 billion per month and Pakistan could not afford even one million dollar loss to exports.
They urged the nation to highlight the soft image of the country in the eyes of international community, and leadership of all political parties should join hands for strengthening the economy.
