A two-day colourful and diverse extravaganza 'Summer Festival', organizing by Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in collaboration with district administration started at Peshawar Ladies Club on Saturday. A total of 25 installs were setup at the festival, including traditional food, fast food, female handmade and embroidery stuffs, ready-made garments, and other cultural stalls.
Performers fascinated families and participants by presenting of traditional khattak, mehsud, and attan dances, while entering main venue of the fest. Also there is lot of funfair for kids, families, and play-land and much more in the two-day festival, which will be opened from 4:00 to 11:00 pm at Ladies Club Peshawar. Accompanied by Ms Ayesha Khattak, Additional Secretary Sports, Tourism and Youth Affairs, Naeem Akhtar, Managing Director TCKP, Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, Deputy Commissioner Peshawar, Riaz Mehsud, the festival was formally inaugurated by daughter of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Bashra Adnan Khattak, at opening ceremony, held at lush green ground of Ladies Club.
The opening ceremony was also attended by TCKP General Manager Events, Mohammad Ali Syed, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Osama Warriach, along with other officials, and families. Managing Director TCKP, Mushtaq Ahmad said that the event is organizing first time for people, affected by prolonged terrorism, which being organized at historic city of the province. He said the women and families didn't come out from houses due to prevalent situation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He, however, said the event is welcoming step, wherein a large number of families, particularly women participated. Additional Secretary, Naeem Akhtar said they have aimed to develop a soft-image of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in rest of the world through organizing such events.
