An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday ordered that US journalist Mark Siegel's statement should be recorded through a video link in the murder case of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. The ATC ordered the Foreign Ministry to direct the Pakistani Embassy in the US to make necessary arrangements to record Siegel's statement. Mark Siegel has refused to come to Pakistan and record his statement in the Benazir Bhutto's murder case.
Siegel had cited security concerns as the reason for his not travelling to Pakistan to record his statement. The murder case of the former prime minister is being heard by an anti-terrorism court at Adiala jail on a daily basis. The prosecution team was informed by Siegel of his security concerns; however, the US journalist said he was willing to record his statement via a video link. The case hearing has been adjourned till Tuesday.
