Chief of Jamaat-i-Islami (JI), Siraj-ul-Haq, has urged the government to repatriate IDPs to their respective areas before the month of Ramazan, saying the government should take measures for their transportation. He made this demand while addressing a press conference along with elected public representatives to Fata, political leaders and a representative jirga comprising the representatives of JI, JUI-F, PPP, ANP, PML-N and QWP here in Markaz-e-Islami on Tuesday.
He said the government has announced a schedule of repatriation without consulting tribal elders. Therefore, he said, it is necessary to consult Fata parliamentarians and tribal chiefs before making repatriation programme and system for IDPs. He said that more than 0.6 million IDPs were forced on migrating to Afghanistan and also called for making arrangements for their repatriation too.
He also asked federal government for the implementation of the relief package announced for IDPs. Siraj-ul-Haq said that the representatives of Waziristan and other tribal areas had complained that the federal government is not consulting them in any matter and nor they are being taken into confidence on the repatriation programme for IDPs. The Senators and MNAs of Fata are not allowed to enter their respective areas and they have also adopted accommodation in Islamabad, which has further multiplied the miseries and concern of tribesmen. He said that no programme evolved without the consent of the leadership of tribal area could prove fruitful.
Senator Siraj-ul-Haq said that tribesmen should not be left at the mercy of foreign non-governmental organisations, saying that tribesmen neither allowed burying the corpses of their near and dear ones in their areas and neither allowed to take bodies of their family members to their respective areas.
