The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) took notice on Wednesday of Pakistan Tehreek-e- Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) leaders Shehbaz Sharif and Khawaja Asif's media talks and warned them of strict action.
In a bid to ensure no violation of code of conduct for Election 2018, ECP took notice and stated that the leaders had talks with the media outside their polling stations right after they voted.
The PTI chairman's voting exercise was also captured on video, violating the ECP's 'secrecy of ballot' code, local media reported. "Action will be taken as per law over violation of the code of conduct," the ECP asserted.
According to ECP rules, speaking to the media right after casting the vote is a major offense. The electoral body of the ECP has also directed the media to not air talks of the candidates during polling. The commission has also decided to issue notices to media houses for airing live talk of politicians, which was violation of code of conduct.
