July 2014 to April 2015: pulses' import up by 34.30 percent

Pakistan's pulses' import mounted to $322.014 million from July 2014 to April 2015, up by 34.30 percent, according to the government's statistics. The pulses import surge reached $82.24 million from July 2014 to April 2015 from $239.774 million from July 2013 to April 2014, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) revealed.
In term of volume, Pakistan imported 525,622 metric tons of pulses during July2014 to April 2015 as compared to the commodity's import of 390,742 metric tons from July 2013 to April 2014, and recorded a rise of 134, 880 metric or 35 percent, PBS mentioned. In April 2015, the country's pulses import grew by over 52 percent or $12.909 million to $37.591 million from $24.682 million in April 2014. The import volume also mounted by 38.16 percent or 32,604 metric tons to 57,286 metric tons in April 2015. Pakistan depends on Australia, Burma, Tanzania and Ethiopia for its pulses' import to satisfy about 0.6 million metric tons demand for the commodity every year.
