Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan’s former first wife Jemima Goldsmith has congratulated her ex-husband, as the preliminary results of Elections 2018 show his party leading.
Jemima has always supported her ex-husband during his tough times, even years after their divorce. Jemima congratulated on Thursday her former hubby for his most anticipated victory in Pakistan’s general elections.
Jemima took to Twitter and also shared his struggle over the past few years. She compared his defeat in 1997 to his win years later in 2018.
22 years later, after humiliations, hurdles and sacrifices, my sons’ father is Pakistan’s next PM. It’s an incredible lesson in tenacity, belief & refusal to accept defeat. The challenge now is to remember why he entered politics in the 1st place. Congratulations @ImranKhanPTI

I remember IK’s 1st election in 1997- untested, idealistic & politically naive. I waited up for the call in LHR with 3 mo old Sulaiman, who I had lugged around the country. Eventually he called. “It’s a clean sweep" & after my gasp, “… the other way.” He roared with laughter

On the day of elections, she wished Pakistanis 'Happy Elections Day' in her tweet. Calling Pakistan a crazy and beloved old friend yesterday, she added 'Pakistan Zinabad'.
Jemima married Imran back then in 1995 and they both parted their ways in 2004. After divorce with Jemima, Khan married twice.
