Bullish sentiments dominated the Lahore Stock Exchange for the second consecutive day on Tuesday as the LSE-25 index further gained 70.82 points to 5778.58 against 5707.76 of Monday while the transaction volume considerably improved to 3.977 million shares compared with the day earlier volume of 0.869 million shares.
The market opened healthily and stayed in green zone following investors' interest in bluechips and read board shares including Habib Bank, United Bank, MCB Bank, Bank of Punjab, Mari Petroleum, Engro Corporation, Engro Fertiliser, Fauji Fertiliser Bin Qasim, Picic Growth Fund, Fecto Cement, Power Cement, Dewan Cement and Ghani Automobile. A few companies like Faysal Bank, Askari Bank, Fauji Cement, PIA and Southern Electric remained under selling pressure.
The advancing stocks were ahead of the declining ones, as out of a total of 91 active issues, 28 companies posted gains, five suffered losses while 58 companies stayed glued to their previous closing. The Habib Bank gained Rs 9.72, Mari Petroleum was improved by Rs 5.99 while United Bank, Engro Corporation and MCB Bank were up by Rs 4.97, Rs 4.30 and Rs 3.70, respectively. In the minus column, Faysal Bank and Fauji Cement lost 10 paisas and 9paisas respectively. The Southern Electric Power with trading of 2.751 million shares topped the volume leaders followed by the Bank of Punjab with 0.542 million shares.
