The lawyers in the federal capital Monday observed 'weekly' strike in protest against the killing of two fellows in Daska. A directive issued by the Punjab Bar Council (PBC) requested lawyers to "observe full-day strike every Monday to show solidarity with the bereaved families" of the two lawyers, including President of Daska Bar Association, killed by police officers in Daska on May 25. The PBC warned that failure to observe strike may entail "disciplinary action".
In pursuance to the PBC call, the lawyers of Islamabad District Bar Association and Islamabad High Court (IHC) boycotted court proceedings and hearing of several cases, including the one related to the reinstatement of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) Chairman Chaudhry Rashid Ahmed.
