The rupee almost held the overnight levels against the dollar on the money market on Tuesday in the process of trading, they said. The rupee shed two-paisa versus the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 101.90 and Rs 101.92 respectively, they said.
In the second Asian trade, the dollar steadied against major counterparts, managing to regain its footing after a sharp drop against the euro on solid German data and higher Bund yields. The euro was buying $1.1281, down 0.1 percent on the day and retreating from its overnight peak of $1.1307, after better-than-expected German industrial output figures.
But Greece's ongoing talks to wrangle an agreement with its lenders capped the common currency's rise. The dollar was available against the Indian rupee at Rs 63.94, the Greenback was at 3.7605 versus the Malaysian ringgit and the US currency was at 6.2049 in terms of the Chinese yuan.
