KE Operation Burq: Marriage hall, cold store & tile maker penalised

K-Electric continues with its Operation Burq and as per latest details 40 more raids were conducted by KE with the help of the Law Enforcing Agencies in different parts of Karachi. Over 6,600 illegal connections were removed by KE's team in the areas of Lyari, Tipu Sultan, Sadr, Gadap, Johar, Korangi, Shah Faisal, Bin Qasim, Johar, Surjani, North Karachi and North Nazimabad, Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Federal B Area. The total weight of these confiscated connections was over 4,000 kg.
As per details, a marriage hall 'Lal Qila Marriage Hall' situated in Nazimabad Firdous Colony was raided during the night which was running illegally. KE's team with the LEAs imposed a penalty and details were gathered for investigation purposes. A tile manufacturer located in the SITE area was using electricity to run its machines illegally and was under the radar. This site was raided and penalised. In another raid more than 1,100 Illegal connections were removed in the area of Surjani which has given the power utility some resistance in the past.
Two FIRs were launched against culprits who were running their commercial connections illegally whereas a massive Kunda removal raid was also conducted in Pak Colony with the support of Police, Rangers and the FIA. Around 250 Kundas (illegal connections) in Sadr and 400 Kundas in different pockets of Bahadurabad vicinity were removed. KE teams on the other hand raided a cold store, a work shop belonging to a carpenter and a tailor shop in the area of Johar where various discrepancies were found.-PR
