The General Elections 2013 Inquiry Commission (GEIC) on Monday sought from Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Form-XV of 12 National Assembly constituencies pertaining to FATA, KPK, Islamabad, Punjab and Sindh provinces by June 16 (today). Form-XV carries the ballot paper accounts prepared by presiding officers that contain statistics about the number of ballot papers entrusted to him, and those taken out from the ballot boxes and counted, besides the number of tendered, challenged and spoiled ballots.
Issuing a short order, the GEIC said that 16 percent extra ballot papers were printed for NA-21, 17 percent for NA- 34, 13 percent for NA- 43, nine percent for NA-48, 19 percent for NA-53, 17 percent for NA-118, 21 percent for NA-119, 28 percent for NA-125, 29 percent for NA-130, 20 percent for NA-157, 17 percent for NA-171 and 10 percent for NA-222.
Captain retired Muhammad Safdar of PML-N succeeded in general election from NA-21, Sahbizada Muhamamd Yaqoob of JI from NA-34, Bismillah Khan, an independent candidate from NA - 43, Asad Umar of the PTI from NA-48, Ghulam Sarawar Khan of the PTI from NA-53, Muhammad Riaz of the PML-N from NA-118, Muhammad Hamza Shahbaz Sharif of the PML-N form NA-119, Khawaja Saad Rafique of the PML-N from NA-125, Sohail Shaukat Butt of the PML-N from NA-130, Muhammad Khan Daha of the PML-N from NA-157, Sardar Muhammad Amjad Farooq Khosa of the PML-N from NA 171, Syed Naveed Qamar of the PPPP from NA-222.
During proceedings, the GEIC recorded statements of four witnesses form Balochistan including former caretaker Chief Minister Ghaus Bakhsh Barozai. Chairman of the GEIC, Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk, asked the counsel for PTI Abdul Hafeez Pirzada to provide a copy of his client Imran Khan's letter to the Commission. The hearing of the matter was adjourned till June 16.
