The Karachi Port handled 113,267 tonnes of cargo comprising 76,907 tonnes of import cargo and 36,360 tonnes of export cargo including 4,689 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 76,907 tonnes comprised of 40,707 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,206 tonnes of general cargo; 15,588 tonnes of bulk cargo: 8,276 tonnes of coal; 1,486 tonnes of soyabean meal; 5,826 tonnes rock phosphate and 19,406 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 36,360 tonnes comprised of 20,890 tonnes of containerised cargo; and 15,360 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,689 containers comprising of 2,519 containers import and 2,170 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,049 of 20's and 678 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 57 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 613 of 20's and 242 of 40's loaded containers while 337 of 20's and 368 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships namely ER Helgoland, Pamisos and MH Adventure carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were five vessels viz. Corvette, Pona, Oriental Ruby, Ince Atlantic and Peace Angel carrying containers, oil tanker, bulk cargo and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There was one ship namely Donga Triton carrying molasses sailed out to sea on Tuesday, while two ships namely Kota Kaya and Serene Sky carrying containers and coal respectively are expected to sail on Wednesday. There were three vessels viz. Hyundai Oakland, Kota Kaya and Hanover Trader carrying containers and styrene monomer due to arrive on Tuesday, while eight vessels viz. PAC Aries, YM Enlightenment, MT Karachi, GT Star, Selini, Golden Denise, Tabernacle Prince and Kong Que Song carrying containers, oil tankers, mogas, chemical, cement and general cargo are respectively due to arrive on Wednesday.
