Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Wednesday said that criticising the Armed Forces will encourage those elements, who wanted to put hurdles in the way of development and progress by destabilising the country. He expressed these views during a political consultativemeeting held here at the PM's House.
The Prime Minister described national level consensus "a must" at this critical phase in the war against terrorism and said the country can only be put on the path of progress and prosperity with political stability and national accord, according to a press release issued by the PM's Office. He said the Armed Forces' officers and Jawans are playing their effective role in the Operation Zarb-e-Azb as well as for the implementation of the National Action Plan and they had the support of the whole nation. The Prime Minister said, criticising the important institution of Army in these circumstances is inappropriate. He said harmony between the Armed Forces and political leadership has strengthened democracy, adding, it is also demonstrated in the decisions of the All-Party Conferences during which the political and military leadership unanimously set the national objectives.
This process should continue with the same spirit, the Prime Minister added. Federal Ministers Mushahidullah Khan, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Pervaiz Rashid, Ahsan Iqbal, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Saad Rafiq, Abdul Qadir Baloch and Advisors to PM Irfan Siddiqui and Dr Asif Kirmani attended the meeting.
