The Punjab government has extended a subsidy of Rs 3.50 billion to ensure availability of eatables, including eggs and chicken, on cheaper rates in Ramazan bazaars being set up in the province. The Chief Minister Punjab's Special Assistant on Livestock Chaudhry Muhammad Arshad Jutt chairing a department meeting on Thursday reviewed the availability of chicken, beef, mutton and eggs in special bazaars working during Ramazan.
Veterinary assistants and officers have been appointed to monitor the availability and district livestock and deputy district livestock officers will be monitoring their performance. Chief Minister Punjab's Special Assistant on Livestock Arshad Jutt said the availability and sale of meat and eggs would be monitored and a report would be sent daily to the Livestock Department. "Stalls will be set up on prominent places in these bazaars while availability of meat and eggs will be announced through loud speakers so as faithful could buy chicken meat and eggs on cheaper rates as compared to retail market. Similarly rate list of beef and mutton will also be displayed prominently," he added. He also told the district livestock officers to daily make video films of availability of meat and eggs and send it to the department.
