Government urged to release funds for education in time

Experts have urged the government to revise curriculum, strengthen the monitoring system and release allocated funds for education in time. They were speaking at the Dialogue on Education Budget jointly organized by a local NGOs IRADO and ARD in collaboration of Alif Ailaan held at a local hotel, here on Thursday. No gross root level input are being taken in any budget especially in education budget as whatever budget allocated for the education is not shared with stakeholders, they said.
Amount of Rs 700 million was allocated in last year for school specification budget for Hyderabad district but no one knew where it has been utilised, they said. Apart from this, such amount of non-salary expenditure was allocated and spent but nothing was seen at ground physically, they said. Moreover, the funds donated by international donors like USAID, JICA, SIDA and others have been spent but where no one knows, they said, adding aside from this, not any concerned person is ready to share information with people working at gross root level.
Experts who spoke on the occasion included Regional Head of SPO Mustafa Baloch, Razzak Umrani, representative of Teachers' Association Zaheer Mirza, Abbas Khoso, Parveen Magsi and Rahmatullah Baloch from Alif Ailaan, Additional Deputy Director Education Farasat Shah and others.
