Dr Farooq Sattar of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Thursday said that his party would defend the rigging allegations levelled against the party by MQM-Haqiqi and Jamat-e-Islami as the judicial commission has accepted to hear their stance on Friday (today).
Talking to reporters outside the Supreme Court of Pakistan, he said the commission has accepted to hear their stance today and they would fully defend their case as it has emerged victorious in similar cases before the election tribunals in the past. He challenged the rival political parties - MQM-Haqiqi and JI - to prove the rigging allegations, saying such allegations against the MQM are not new as the party has been facing such problems for the so many years.
Zubair Khan of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) claimed that the returning officers had handed over all the unused ballot papers to the treasury, adding the PTI failed to give any evidence substantiating its claims against the ROs. A question about the PPP's sacrifices for democracy and the attitude of the government towards Asif Ali Zardari, he said it is the Bhutto family which no doubt, rendered numerous sacrifices for strengthening democracy in the country, and Zardaris must not take credit for it.
