Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has decided to take action against faculty working in the unrecognised medical and dental colleges. The council in its 139th meeting decided that the faculty, which were currently teaching in the medical and dental colleges which have been recommended for closure or are functioning without recognition, would be suspended from faculty registration and they would not be given any teaching experience of this relevant period.
This decision has been taken as despite clear recommendation of PMDC these colleges are functioning.
Colleges, which have been recommended closure by the PMDC, included Alrazi Medical College, Peshawar, Hashmat Medical College, Gujrat, Pak Red Crescent Medical College, Lahore and Sahiwal Medical College, Sahiwal, besides D.G Khan Medical College, D.G Khan (unrecognised and recommended for closure) and Dental Section, Bacha Khan Medical College, Mardan (unrecognised).
Members of the council from all over the country attended the meeting including Dr Masood Ahmad Khan (President PMDC), Professor Dr Syed Muhammad Awais (Vice President PMDC), Dr Saeed Ahmed Mangneoo, Muhammad Mushtaq Jadoon, Noor-ul-Haq Baluch, Professor Dr Azam H Yousafani, Professor Dr Muhammad Hafizullah, Dr Asim Hussain, Professor Dr Ghulam Qadir Kazi, Professor Dr Shaheed Iqbal, Professor Dr Moghees A Baig, Professor Dr Taj Muhammad Khan, Dr Farooq Saeed Khan, Dr Khurshid A Nasim, Dr Marghub Khan, Dr Muslim Khan, Professor Dr Saadat Khan, Professor Dr Rashid Mian, Professor Dr Umar Ali Khan, Professor Dr Syed Mehmood Haider, Professor Dr Zia-ul-Haq, Professor Dr Abdul Salam, Professor Dr Zafar ullah Chaudhry, Professor Dr Maj Gen Muhammad Aslam, Professor Dr Nushad A Sheikh, Professor Dr Farhat Abbas and DG Ministry of National Health Services.
