An official of the Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL), Rawalpindi-Islamabad Region also advised the consumers only to use natural gas heaters and geysers as and when required in order to maintain pressure for all the consumers in view of gap in demand and supply of the gas.

While warning the consumers about possible gas related accidents owing to leakage of rubber gas pipes, he said that consumers at homes, offices, educational institutions and trading centres should not use rubber pipes for gas heaters and stoves.

Suggesting special safety measure, he said the consumers should take special care while using gas appliances to avoid untoward incidents during the winter season.

The gas appliances of good quality should be used and a trained plumber should be engaged to rectify gas leakage in houses. The official also asked the people to keep at least one window in a room open while using gas heaters.

The consumers should desist from using electric fan or exhaust fan in case of leakage of gas and keep windows open. He said the domestic consumers should switch off their heaters and geysers before going to bed to save gas and their precious lives.

He said the Company has also set up a complaint cell to address complaints regarding leakage and theft in the Islamabad and Rawalpindi Region.

The complaint cell will immediately respond to any complaint or information about gas leakage or theft in any area of the region, he added.
