LESCO, GEPCO regions Electricity supply stabilises

Electricity demand and supply position stabilised in the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) and Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) regions on Monday as there was no forced load-shedding during Iftar, Tarawee and Sehri timing except the normal outages during the day.
According to Ministry of Water and Power sources, the electricity shortfall further came down to 3,600 MW against Sunday's deficit of 4,000 MW as electricity demand remained around 19000 MW during peak time. Hydel power units generated about 5,700 MW, IPPs 7500 MW and Thermal power houses 2200 MW. Talking to newsmen Chief Executive Officer GEPCO Zahur Ahmad Chohan said that electricity situation in his region (Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin and Hafizabad districts having 2.9 million consumers) has stabilised and there were no unscheduled outages during the past twenty four hours. Electricity supply to Industry is suspended at the time of Iftar, Tarawee and Sehri timings and all the available electricity is provided to the domestic consumers. Executive Engineers, Sub-Divisional Officers and all field staff remain on duty to ensure that there was no forced outage. He said the Chambers of Commerce and Industry and commercial consumers and traders organizations are fully cooperating with GEPCO so that maximum electricity could be provided to the domestic consumers.
