"Science has proven that exposure to mobile phones, iPad and laptop is an important factor causing dysfunction of a baby brain. These developmental issues and learning difficulties affect the babies physically, socially and psychologically. Child turns into a physically slow baby, cranky, demanding and restless at night. It leads to bad behaviour at school and with other siblings," integrated physician and Lifestyle Medicine specialist Doctor Shagufta Feroz said this while talking with the Business Recorder here on Wednesday.
She further said malnourished parents, poor nutrition and stress during pregnancy, poor education about reproductive health, poor quality of sleep and fear of obesity led to complications among newly born children. She mentioned first 12 weeks of pregnancy are important for their mental and physical health and dependent on mothers' health.
"Delayed milestones, learning difficulties, hyperactivity are commonly seen among children these days. Health of such children can be improved by correcting their food, involving them into physical activity, and modifying their parents eating habits. It is very important to diagnose this problem at an early stage for better care and quick recovery," she added.
She further said, "Approaches to reduce the number of such children include: pre-conception counselling and lifestyle modification. Food supplements are also beneficial along with proper food. However, selection of food supplement/health supplement is very important. Source of health supplement should be natural so it becomes friendly with body and easily digest able. Supplements that are produced from natural source and through a process of fermentation technology, are easily digest able, detoxifying, improve metabolism and provide health and vitality to human cells because of enzymes that act as source of life.
"Women's good health is essential to the good health of their babies. Women who eat well and exercise regularly, are less likely to have complications during pregnancy, and are more likely to give birth to a healthy baby. A nutritious diet is directly linked to a higher chance of a normal birth-weight, improving fetal brain development, and reducing the risk of many birth defects. A balanced diet will also reduce the risks of pregnancy complications like anaemia, and may also minimise morning sickness, fatigue and other unpleasant pregnancy symptoms," she mentioned.
