the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Sindh, Ghulam Haider Jamali, has called for preparing computerised record of absconders and wanted criminals on the basis of national identity card numbers. He issued directives to this effect at a meeting held at the Central Police Office (CPO) says a statement here on Thursday. The IGP told the SSPs of the respective districts that inclusion of national identity card numbers in the computerised data base of absconders and proclaimed offenders would help make the arrests of such accused effective and co-ordinated.
He further instructed that the police and NADRA officials cooperate and co-ordinate preparation of such database. The IGP said that in case of non-availability of the national identity card number of accused, the concerned SSPs should make available of national identity card number of any of the family members of the accused to NADRA.
Later NARDA on the basis of automatic system should make access to the accused's national identity cards provide data to the police. The meeting was informed that the very purpose of preparing such lists would help ensure arrest of such accused through snap-checking, searching, checking, targeted operations and raids etc. Meeting was also informed that latest software in this regard is being prepared in collaboration with NADRA. The IGP also directed that in case any police official is found involved in sponsoring narcotics or gambling den, he would be sacked and legal action would also be initiated.
