'NAB committed to eradicate corruption from country'

NAB under the leadership of Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry is committed to eradicate corruption and corrupt practices from the country by adopting zero tolerance policy. "Corruption is one of the major factors that create hurdles in the progress, depriving a deserving person of his/her due right. It creates delays in the completion of development projects but also causes huge losses to the national exchequer." This was stated by Director General NAB KP, Shahzad Saleem while addressing officers/officials of NAB KP.
He said that on the directions of NAB Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, a quantified grading system has been devised. Under this grading system, performance of the NAB regional bureaus is being evaluated at a given criteria every year. He said NAB is Pakistan's apex anti-corruption organisation which is assigned the responsibility of elimination of corruption through a holistic approach of awareness, prevention and enforcement. He said that NAB KP Bureau is one of the important regional bureaus of NAB. It has played a prominent role in contributing towards the overall performance of NAB.
He said NAB KP had filed 368 corruption references since its inception. NAB KP has filed 368 corruption references in the Accountability Court. The Bureau received 5,261 complaints during 2014 and all were disposed of. NAB KP Bureau recovered Rs 2865 million and arrested 599 persons since its inception. The DG NAB KP appreciated the performance of all officers/officials of NAB KP and directed for arresting all corrupted persons, proclaimed offenders (POs) and absconders. He directed for further hard work as there is always room for improvement.
