A delegation of Frontier Customs Agents Group, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa called on Collector Customs, Peshawar Qurban Ali Khan and demanded allowing Custom Squad accompanied private trucks to carry Afghanistan bound export goods. The delegation headed by chairman, Frontier Customs Agents Group, KP, Vice Chairman, All Pakistan Customs Agents Association and Director, Pakistan, Afghanistan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PAJCCI), Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi was comprised of Khalid Shehzad, Imtiaz Ahmad Ali, Mian Waheed Badshah, Tariq Siddiqui, Azam Sharif, Asif Jamal, Asad Bilal and Khiyal Hussain.
On this occasion, Additional Collector Customs, Aftab Haider, Assistant Commissioner (AC), Customs Collectorate, Shehzad Liaquat Ranja. The delegation congratulated the new Collector Customs, Qurban Ali Khan and expressed goods wishes for them. They also briefed him regarding difficulties faced by the importers and exporters.
They told the Collector Customs regarding their problems faced by the clearing agents at dry port, Torkham Customs Station and airport and demanded steps for their resolution. The delegation informed that National Logistic Cell (NLC) is charging an amount of Rs 2500 on all kind of Afghanistan bound export goods through Torkham border, which is sheer injustice. They proposed that beside, bonded carrier, private trucks escorted by custom squad should also be allow to transport export goods from dry port to facilitate exporters.
They also highlighted complaints regarding affecting of packing material during checking of goods by Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), export consignments, marking to archaeology development, lack of facilities at Peshawar dry port and abolition of illegal check posts on Pakistan-Afghanistan Highway.
The collector customs thanked the delegation and said that he come with the spirit of serving the nation and country and in capacity of collector customs, he will take steps for the resolution of the problems of business community. He said that customs clearing agents and Pakistan Customs are inseparable and depending on each other. He agreed with the problems highlighted by the delegation and assured the resolution of their problems on priority basis.
