FBR directs LTUs, RTOs: no income tax notice without bar code to be issued from today

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has directed its field formations that no income tax notice would be served from July 1, 2015 in the absence of a system generated Bar Code. In this regard, the FBR has issued instructions to all Chief Commissioners of Large Taxpayer Units (LTUs) and Regional Tax Offices (RTOs) here on Tuesday on the printing of Bar code on notices issued under Income Tax Ordinance, 2001.
According to the FBR's instructions dated June 30, the FBR Board-in-Council directed on June 29, 2015 that no notice under Income tax Ordinance, 2001 be issued to taxpayers without a system printed Bar Code. This instruction is effective from July 1, 2015.
The FBR said that the press release in this regard stands issued by the FBR on 29.06.2015 and Taxpayers are informed through newspapers of 30.06.2015 to intimate about notices received without bar code. Member IT bar informed the Board-in-Council (29th June, 2015) that Database Administrators (DBA) are ready in all RTOs/ LTUs and they can give know-how to officers / auditors by imparting a 15 minutes training in use of printing bar code.
Chief Commissioners / Director Generals may ensure that all their officers are trained in the matter at RTOS/ LTUs on July 1st 2015, under intimation to the FBR. An internal office circular has also been issued by all RTOs/ LTUs/ DGs to all their officers that no Income tax notice be issued w.e.f July 1, 2015 without containing a system generated Bar Code. In case of any queries, the DBAs should be contacted at RTOs/ LTUs. On persistence of any hurdle, the Member IT be informed, with a copy to the FBR, FBR added.
