Kazakhstan's grain exports dropped by a quarter to 6.444 million tonnes in the 2014/15 marketing year, which ended on June 30, after harsh weather severely damaged the quality of the crop in late 2014, early Agriculture Ministry data showed on Thursday. In the previous crop season, central Asia's largest producer of grain harvested 8.680 million tonnes, the ministry said.
Kazakhstan's grain exports in the 2014/15 season included 2.393 million tonnes of flour in grain equivalent, compared with 2.866 million tonnes a year earlier, it said. Kazakhstan harvested 17.2 million tonnes of grain by clean weight last year, below a crop of 18.2 million tonnes in 2013.
