Power crisis has become more worsen in district Swat as duration of loadshedding in rural areas spread to 20 hours and while urban areas are facing 16 hours loadshedding.
The massive power loadshedding has rendered industries and business activities closed while water scarcity has also hit the district. The loadshedding has made the lives of the people miserable as due to low voltage the tube-wells of the local govt have went out of order and people have to fetch water from far-flung areas.
Meanwhile, the residents of Saidu Sharif, Swat took streets to protest worst power loadshedding and linking of their area with Marghuzar feeder.
The protestors led by district councillor, Mian Gul Amirzeb Shehryar and tehsil councillor, Dr Khalid Mehmood blocked the road in front of the casualty of Saidu Sharif Hospital for all kind of vehicular traffic.
Addressing the protestors, the speakers said that Saidu Sharif has its own separate status as important divisional headquarters and hospitals are situated in the area. He said that the linkage of the area with rural area like Marghuzar is injustice.
They said that the change of the feeder has resulted in initiating worst electricity loadshedding in all mohallas including Miangano Cham, Rore Cham, Haji Abad and Shaheen Abad, which could not be accepted at any cost. They warned that if the problem was not resolved then they will not be remained peaceful.
Later, Executive Engineer (EXN) WAPDA along with heavy contingent of police arrived on the spot and entered into negotiations with the protestors. The protesters later dispersed peacefully.
