Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani, who is thought to be a tough disciplinarian, on Monday took notice of State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali's attire, when he saw him sitting in the house rolling back his sleeves. Dressed in off-white Shalwar Qameez, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA from Faisalabad entered the house in a leisurely mood without knowing that man presiding over the Senate session is a bit different from National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.
Without pointing to the minister, Rabbani interrupted a speaker for few minutes and stated that nobody in the house is allowed to roll back his sleeves, which is violation of Senate's decorum. This prompted the firebrand PML-N diehard from Faisalabad to button his sleeves with a smile on his face saying something to a fellow minister sitting next to him. Let alone maintaining the dress code, the Senators used to crack jokes like their colleagues in National Assembly before Rabbani took over as chairman.
