Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan on Tuesday urged former Justice Wajihuddin Ahmed from giving further decisions as head of party intra-party election tribunal. He has said that party respects Wajihuddin Ahmed as an senior member of the party but nobody can be allowed to go beyond the mandate.
In his letter to Wajihuddin Ahmed, the PTI Chairman said that PTI is the only party to have held intra-party elections. The letter states that the election tribunal's one-point agenda was to investigate electoral rigging complaints. It stated that the party accepted tribunal's report on the election petitions and its recommendation to hold fresh intra-party elections, after which the tribunal was dissolved.
However, it added, Wajihuddin continued to give decisions as head of already dissolved tribunal which was beyond its mandate. Wajihuddin Ahmed has been told to stop making further decisions. Imran Khan's letter says that he respects Wajihuddin Ahmed as a senior member of the party but nobody can be allowed to go beyond his mandate. He said that he will continue to take necessary measures for saving the party. "All your pronouncements are unwarranted and devoid of underlying authority, besides damaging the PTI," he said, accusing Wajihuddin of 'overstepping his mandate'.
