As many as 38,356 police officers/officials including 747 private volunteers and officials of 887 peace committees will perform security duties on the occasion of Youm-e-Ali (RA) whereas, decision about the scanning of the routs of all taken out 181 processions and 863 majalis along with the deployment of three layer security was also finalised in first ever video RPO Conference held at Central Police Office, Lahore on Tuesday, under the chairmanship of Inspector General of Police, Punjab Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera.
All RPOs and DPOs were present on video link, whereas, Additional IGP Operations Punjab, Captain Arif Nawaz (Retd), Additional IGP Special Branch Punjab, Dr Arif Mushtaq, CCPO Lahore, Captain Muhammad Amin Wain (Retd), Commandant Punjab Constabulary Hussain Asgher, DIG Operations Punjab, Aamir Zulfiqar Khan, DIG Establishment-II, Nawaz Warraich, RPO Sheikhupura Muhammad Shahzad Sultan, DIG PHP, Salman Chaudhry, DIG Operation Lahore, Dr Haider Ashraf, AIG Develoment, Ahmad Arslan Malik and SSP Admin, Lahore, Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera also attended the conference.
All processions and majalis will be monitored through 382 CCTV cameras, 2,805 metal detectors and 122 walk through gates will be used for search. Keeping in view the last Ashra of Ramazan, the conference decided to enhance the security and surveillance of the holly places during Traveeh and Aitakaaf and for this purpose the field officers can also demand more force if required.
CTD, Special Branch and other agencies were also directed to keep constant and close liaison for intelligence sharing with the field officers. The overall law and order and crime situation was also reviewed in the conference and satisfaction was expressed over decrease in crime rate.
