Registration of blind persons will start soon: minister

Provincial Minister for Minorities Affairs and Human Rights Khalil Tahir Sandhu has said that registration of blind persons will soon be started in the province. He was addressing a meeting of the representatives of blind persons and Social Welfare and Minorities Affairs departments at his office, here on Wednesday. The minister said the government is making serious efforts for the solution of the problems of blind persons.
He said that on the recommendations of the special committee set-up on the instructions of the government, data of blind persons is being collected in all districts and they will be issued identity cards under one-window operation. He said that details regarding qualification of blind persons are also being acquired for providing them jobs in government departments on the basis of their education. He said that doctors will carry out complete examination of the blind persons and other family members and provide them medical facilities.
