A meeting of National Assembly Standing Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges met on Wednesday in Committee Room No 2, first floor, Parliament House, Islamabad, under the Chairmanship of Chaudhry Asad-ur-Rehman, MNA to discuss the following agenda:
The Question of Privilege raised by Shahjehan, MNA, regarding misbehaviour of Shahid Nadeem Baloch, former Inspector General of Police, Sindh, with the Honourable Member. Matter regarding review of Rule-224 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly, 2007 in the light of Rule 183 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Senate, 2012, referred by Honourable Speaker, under Rule-201.
Motion moved by Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, MNA regarding amendments in Rule-73 and 250 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly, 2007.
Pertaining to the Privilege Motion of Shahjehan, MNA, the SSP Sukkur presented a report which was found unsatisfactory by the committee. So, the committee pended the issue with the direction that present IGP Sindh, ex-LGP Sindh, Shahid Nadeem Baloch, SSP Sukkur, Irfan Baloch and DPO Sukkur and concerned DIG posted there at the time of incident, should attend the next meeting of the committee, in person.
On the agenda of comparing the Rules of Procedure in the Senate and in the National Assembly pertaining to the sub-committees, the committee unanimously recommended that the Rules of the National Assembly pertaining to sub-committee are more convenient and there is no need to amend these Rules.
Regarding another agenda item moved by Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, MNA to amend the Rule-73 pertaining to increase the number of Questions to be taken up in the Question Hour was not recommended by the committee. Similarly, the amendment in Rule-250 of the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly, pertaining to increase the number of intervening days for Questions was pended by the committee till its next meeting.
