The construction work of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SAARCCI) Headquarters building has been started. Featuring ground plus nine storey iconic building will be a symbol of honour for Pakistan, Vice President SAARCCCI Iftikhar Ali Malik told APP, highlighting the main features of the important building. It would cost Rs 500 million and completed within two years time.
He said the new building would have an attractive, unique architecture and the Headquarters for SAARC would be symbolic as the United Nations (UN). He informed that the building would have eight levels for office space for the member nations and two levels of basement parking for 106 cars with roof garden outdoor space. Malik said that the building would have an auditorium for 250 persons with smart info media system (SIS).
He said SAARCCCI was established in December 1992, which serves as apex organization of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) mandated to promote economic cooperation in the region. Malik said that the year 2015 would be a landmark in the history of SAARCCCI, bringing in its fold the commencement of SAARCCCI headquarters building project to further strengthen and upgrade its permanent headquarters at Islamabad. The project, he said was supported by all the national chambers of commerce and industry of South Asian region, particularly from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and India and from other countries. The SAARCCI Vice President said the project would provide state-of-the-art facilities to member countries.
