The Punjab agriculture minister has urged the Board of Directors of the Punjab Seed Corporation (PSC) to upgrade her seed-processing plants and also called for stronger and more active procurement, marketing and processing wings.
Minister Doctor Farrukh Javed, in his speech at the board's 105th meeting approving the promotion of four officers of the grade-18 and 19 and also drawing in Agriculture Additional Secretary Syed Gulzar Hussain Shah, board members Shah Nawaz Warriach and Punjab Seed Corporation Managing Director Khaqab Babar, said the board set up in 1976 enjoyed the status of backbone in the agricultural sector of the province since growers across the province had trust in the seed produced by the PSC. "The corporation is providing high quality certified seed to farmers on cheaper rates and it is playing a leading role in the seed industry.
The provincial government wants the development of the agricultural sector to bring about a green revolution and that the seed being produced by the corporation are also acknowledged at the international level and it is the result of team work," he told his audience. Following a recommendation by board Managing Director Khaqan Babar, the board then promoted Nasir Saleem in grade 20 and allowed to continue work as Deputy Managing Director, Aslam Mansoor in Grade-19 and appointed him as Director Finance, Khalid Mahmood Shahzad was appointed as Director Admin after being promoted to Grade-19 while Zahid Ishaq was also given regular promotion in Grade-19 and he will continue to work as Farms Director.
