Interior Ministry on Thursday submitted report pertaining to registration of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to the Supreme Court. According to the report, there will be no compromise over the State security, while the report also demanded to close down all anti-state and unregistered NGOs. It further stated that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has set up a committee for submitting a report on NGOs, while the Interior Ministry will be responsible for the registration of NGOs.
Meanwhile, all the provinces have been directed to strictly monitor the funds and operations of NGOs. The report also demanded to close down all anti-state and unregistered NGOs and added that there are several credible NGOs operating in Pakistan. According to the report, 1,427 NGOs and madressahs have been issued notices for annual audit, while details of 35 NGOs have been handed over to the SECP. The NGOs registration case will be heard on July 22.
