Keeping in view the forthcoming LG elections in the provinces of Punjab and Sindh scheduled to be held on September 20, 2015, the Election Commission of Pakistan has initiated arrangements for inclusion of names of new NIC holders entitled to be enrolled as voters and exclusion of voters who have become disqualified due to death, nationality surrender, cancelled NICs etc.
For this purpose, 3.95 million new NICs issued by National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) have been included in the electoral rolls while 136,530 NICs of deceased and disqualified voters have been excluded from the electoral rolls in respect of Punjab. While in the same pattern, 1.35 million new NICs have been included in the electoral rolls and 21,782 NICs have been excluded from the electoral rolls in respect of Sindh.
The exercise of "Display Period" is being initiated w.e.f. 21st July 2015 in both the Punjab and Sindh Provinces which will be continued till July 27 2015. Therefore, the voters/ general public will have seven days for inspection of electoral rolls for additions and deletions in the display centre (office of Registration Officers and respective Assistant Registration Officers of Punjab and Sindh). Enrollment, deletion and correction of votes will be filed on prescribed forms (A, B and C).
Voters will have also the facility to check their voting details by sending their CNIC numbers (without hash or space) to 8300 through SMS while further detail and information can be obtained from the ECP's website www.ecp.gov.pk. Therefore, voters of both the Punjab and Sindh Provinces are informed to avail this opportunity as no correction, addition/deletion, transfer etc in the Electoral Rolls will be possible after announcement of election schedule in both the Provinces. It is also added for information that this exercise had already been completed in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, cantonment areas and Islamabad Capital Territory.
