PSO CEO''s appointment: petition to be taken up after summer vacations

22 Jul, 2015

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) will take up petition filed against appointment of Chief Executive Officer Pakistan State Oil (PSO)-country''s largest oil marketing company--after summer vacations. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in May this year approved the appointment of Sheikh Imranul Haque as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PSO.
The petition filed by a PSO shareholder Jamshed Mir alleged that the ministry of petroleum and natural resources ''manipulated'' the appointment of CEO of the PSO having over Rs1.4 trillion as annual turnover. The petitioner, however, claimed that the company where Haque had served as CEO earlier was quite a small entity and comprises not more than 50 employees. As per petition, the number of PSO employees exceeds 3000. The petitioner said Haque has no experience in oil marketing, storage and distribution, which is the core business of the PSO."
