About 26,899 people have been rescued from low-lying areas affected with flood through 89 boats free service. According to an official statement issued here Saturday, Provincial secretary for Auqaf, Sher Yar Sultan paid a visit to relief camps set up at Sher Sultan, Lohanch, Jhakhar Pakka, Bikhari Ahmad Khan, Pahar Pur and Kot Sultan to review facilities being provided to people.
Talking to journalists, he said food, including hundreds of flour bags and others items were distributed among the affected people. About 3,500 food bags for cattle were also distributed among the flood-hit people. He was informed that 86 towns with 19,453 families were affected from the flood. Moreover, 89,838 acres of the district were inundated.
About 153 tents were set up in nine colonies in different parts of the region. Over 2,178 affected people were being provided clean drinking water, three times meal, sleeping beds with other necessities of life to the victims. About 55,365 affected people were so far vaccinated to save them from viral diseases.
