Former captain Wasim Bari is optimistic that Pakistan’s relations with India will improve with Imran Khan as the prime minister of the country.

In an interview to local media, the ex-cricketer congratulated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan after his party’s victory in the general elections. He believes that Khan’s likeable personality will play a pivotal role in improving Indo-Pak relations.

“I would like to congratulate Imran Khan on his victory,” said Bari, who played 81 Tests and 51 One Day International for Pakistan.

“I am hopeful that Indo-Pak relations will improve with him as premier because of his good reputation globally,” he said. Bari also appreciated the gesture shown by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf by inviting former Indian cricketers and showbiz stars for Khan’s oath-taking ceremony.

Bari further said that Khan will deliver in accordance with the expectations of the nation in the same manner as his illustrious cricketing career.
