Minister for replacement of old radio transmitters

Information Minister for Broadcasting and National Heritage Pervaiz Rashid on Monday directed the Director General of Radio Pakistan to chalk out a plan for the replacement of its old transmitters to ensure uninterrupted and quality broadcast. The minister, during a visit to PBC Headquarters here, also asked Director General Syed Muhammad Imran Gardezi to enhance the role of Pakistan Broadcasting Academy in capacity building of the existing staff. The academy, he said, for the purpose should work in close co-ordination with universities.
He also directed that news and programme staff being inducted in the organisation should be imparted in-depth professional training to meet high standards of broadcasting. On the occasion, Information Secretary Muhammad Azam assured to fulfil requirements of Radio Pakistan. The Director General informed the minister that Radio Pakistan installed a transmitter in Chitral on war-footings to give timely information to the people about flood situation. Earlier, Senator Pervaiz Rashid listened to national songs produced by Radio Pakistan to be aired on the eve of Pakistan Independence Day.
