The recent reshuffle of Sindh cabinet has saddled the Chief Minster Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah with myriad governance issues that prompted him to fly to Dubai abruptly to discus the situation with PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, Business Recorder has learnt. Sources closed to the developments revealed that Sharjeel Inam Memon and Mir Hazar Khan Bajarani were not satisfied with their new portfolios due to the reasons best known to them.
Memon, who previously held Sindh Information and Local Bodies ministries, was given Sindh Works and Services department a week ago. "He (Sharjeel Memon) has demanded of the CM to allot him the previous portfolios, saying he could not work on fresh assignment," a source disclosed. Similarly, Sindh Minister for Education Mir Hazar Khan Bajarani wants removal of powerful bureaucrat Secretary Education Dr Fazalluah Pacheo so as to constitute his own team comprising liked-minded officers.
"It's difficult for me to work with current Secretary Education," Bajarani reportedly conveyed to chief minister. It is worth mentioning here that Pacheo is the brother-in-law of Asif Ali Zardari. Moreover, Bajarani has not yet assumed his office. However, Minister for Local Bodies Nasir Shah, Mukesh Kumar Chawala and Sikander Mandhro are happy with their new portfolios.
Minister for Sindh Information and Irrigation Nisar Khoro, according to informed sources, is also devoid of his fresh responsibilities. He also wanted to take back Ministry of Education despite the fact that he had bad working relations with Secretary Education Dr Fazalluah Pacheo. Education Department has emerged one of the most corrupt departments in Sindh, where the officials earned millions of rupees of "illegal gratifications" for awarding undue promotions and recruitments, incurring grave financial losses to national exchequer.
It is pertinent to mention here that Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah in his meeting with party's Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari in Dubai on July 21 had decided to change the portfolios in cabinet, reportedly, in line with the proceedings and decisions made by last apex committee meeting. Sources said that the CM would discuss the fresh crises with Asif Ali Zardari, which had emerged after reshuffling in the Sindh cabinet. He would also brief Asif Zardari on his meeting with Corps Commander Karachi and flood situation in Sindh.
