'Chinese investment to promote cotton industry'

The Punjab agriculture minister has claimed that Chinese investment in the backward areas of the province will not only help tackle unemployment but also promote the latest cotton industry. Minister Farrukh Javed talking to reporters on Tuesday while inspecting a latest cotton ginning and pressing factory set up by China at Makhdoom Ali in Lodhran said, "This is the latest cotton factory set up in the Southern Punjab and the provincial government of the Punjab will be setting up such more plants with the collaboration of Chinese companies. It will help improve the backward parts of the Punjab province."
In his speech, the Chinese investor paid gratitude to the Punjab government on helping complete this project which would start next month and said such plants would not only improve the quality of cotton but farmers would also get better compensation of their produce. Minister Javed then said he hoped the introduction of latest technology in this sector would prove beneficial for the cotton industry. Those also present were Agriculture Special Secretary Syed Gulzar Hussain Shah, Chinese factory's Chairman Li and other officials and farmers and ginners of the area.
