Argentina defender Milton Casco is set to complete a move from Newell's Old Boys to Marseille, the French club announced on Tuesday. "The final details will be dealt with in the coming hours," said Marseille on their official website, with local media saying the Ligue 1 club will pay a fee of around 2.5 million euros ($2.7m, £1.8m) for a player who has never operated outside of Argentina.
The 27-year-old has just one cap for his country - he went to the recent Copa America in Chile but did not take to the field at all as Argentina lost on penalties to the hosts in the final. Casco, whose current club Newell's is where Marseille's Argentine coach Marcelo Bielsa made his name, has been preferred to his compatriot Facundo Roncaglia of Fiorentina.
He will be OM's 10th summer signing, with previous arrivals including former France international midfielders Lassana Diarra and Abou Diaby. Marseille are rebuilding their squad after losing the likes of Andre-Pierre Gignac, Dimitri Payet, Andre Ayew and Giannelli Imbula since last season. They begin their Ligue 1 campaign at home to Caen on Saturday eveing.
