Looting, portraying as cops Tarnol police arrest four culprits

Islamabad Tarnol Police has arrested four persons involved in depriving people from their valuables after portraying themselves as cops, a police spokesman said. He said Jehanzeb Tariq submitted an application with Tarnol Police Station on August 1 that when he along with his friends was traveling on GT Road, three persons in a corolla car bearing registration number GU-509 on green number plate signaled them to stop near Sangjani.
He said they were wearing police commando uniforms and ATS was written on front as well back side of their shirts and also below shoulders. The complainant said they alleged him and his other friends to be involved in one-wheeling and started their physical search. A total of Rs 8500, CNICs were taken away from them and handed over to another person in plain clothes sitting on front seat of the car. He said they also threatened him and his friends and asked to go away from there.
Following this compliant, Tarnol Police registered the case and SSP Islamabad Sajid Kiani took serious notice of the incident. He assigned task to SP (Saddar) Rizwan Umer Gondal to investigate the case, who constituted special team under supervision of DSP Muhammad Idrees Rathor, SHO Inspector Muhammad Aslam, Sub-Inspector Muneer Jafferi and others. This team started patrolling in 'Sangjani' area during the last week and observed a Toyota corolla car having four occupants last day. Three of them were wearing police commando uniforms as told by the complainant and identified as Waqar Yununs, Wazeer Abbass, Ali Raza and police constable Irfan. Accused Wazeer Abbass was portrayed as Assistant Commissioner (AC) by them. During the preliminary investigations, they have confessed their involvement in several incidents of looting citizens in similar way.-PR
