Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) Chairperson Irfan Qaiser Shaikh said in a meeting on Friday that authority is starting media training short courses from this month. He said, "The media training short courses include cameraman, non-linear editor and control room operator. These courses are being launched as a pilot project at the Government College of Technology Printing and the Graphic Art Lahore. After successfully launching, this training programme will also start in other institutes in the future to fulfill the demand."
He informed the participants that Tevta has already signed a memorandum of understanding with the Media Advocacy Centre to train skilled manpower in the media related courses. "The agreement will provide well equipped human resource for the media industry. The entry qualification for admission is Matric. Certification will be provided through the Trade Testing Board and the Punjab Board of Technical Education," he added.
He also said that because of the accelerated boom in the media industry by introduction of new channels and media groups, the industry is facing a shortage of technical staff such as well-trained cameraman, editors and operators.
