As many as 262 medical teams are serving in 107 union councils of seven flood hit districts Dera Ghazi Khan, Jhang, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Mianwali, Rahim Yar Khan and Rajanpur and more than 95 thousand flood affectees have been provided treatment facilities so far.
A spokesman of health department said that 201 permanent and 61 mobile teams are providing medical facilities to flood affectees round the clock. He said that medical teams have administered polio drops to 13800 children, vaccinated 11131 children against measles and vaccinated 5470 pregnant women against tetanus. He said that lady doctors have conducted medical check of 457 pregnant women during the last 24 hours in flood hit areas and 9 persons of dog bite and two of snake bite were vaccinated.
The spokesman further said that aquapura tablets and packets of ORS are also being distributed in the flood hit areas to save children and elders from diarrhoea and dehydration. Moreover, provision of medicines and attendance of staff is being ensured in medical relief camps.
