General Secretary PPP Sindh, Senator Taj Hyder said that there is no threat of flood and it would be beneficial for Delta areas, when water would reach there. He was speaking on the occasion of his visit to review the flood situation at Kotri barrage near at Al-Manzar area on Saturday. "The water quantity at Indus River is very low as compared to quantity recorded in Flood 2010", he said adding flow of water 580,000 cusec is at upstream of Kotri barrage while about 550,000 was recorded at downstream.
Such quantity of water would enhance the greenery and beneficial for environment delta, tail of Indus River from where the water would be released to the Sea, he said. Expressing satisfaction over the arrangements made by irrigation and other concerned department for strengthening embankments of Indus River, he said that all arrangements have been made to cope with untoward situation.
Sindh government would provide all kinds of support and protection to lives and property of people, in case any unwanted situation may rise, he said. Showing serious concerns over the issue of LBOD in Badin, he said that he and Dr Sikandar Mendhro would pave a way to resolve that issue. Engineer Kotri Barrage, Sajjid Bhutto also briefed Senator over the situation of flood and necessary arrangements made by them. Chief Engineer Kotri Barrage Junaid Memon, PPP Hyderabad Division Information Secretary Dr Tahseen Shaikh and other official were present on the occasion.
