Ukraine exported 2.86 million tonnes of grains in July, topping officially reported figures, the UkrAgroConsult consultancy said on Tuesday. It said exports included 1.076 million tonnes of wheat, 756,000 tonnes of maize and 974,000 tonnes of barley.
The agriculture ministry said last week exports rose to about 2.5 million tonnes in July, the first month of the 2015/16 season, from 2.2 million a month earlier.
The ministry said on Tuesday exports totalled 2.624 million tonnes so far in the 2015/16 season, including 992,000 tonnes of maize (corn), 784,000 tonnes of wheat and 846,000 tonnes of barley.
It said an additional 276,000 tonnes of grains were loaded on vessels and would be shipped abroad in coming days.
Agriculture Minister Oleksiy Pavlenko said on Monday that Ukraine expected to increase grain exports to 36 million tonnes in 2015/16 from 34.9 million shipped in the previous season. Pavlenko said he expected higher exports in August due to better logistics and higher demand.
