The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has made it mandatory for all taxpayers earning taxable salary to file their income tax returns electronically for the Tax Year 2015 as the condition of Rs 500,000 income for mandatory electronic filing is no more in vogue.
The FBR has issued Notification S.R.O. 791(1)/2015 here Tuesday that all individuals earning taxable salary income shall be liable to file their Income Tax returns electronically from Tax Year 2015 onwards. The condition of Rs 500,000 or more, as provided in the said sub-section shall not be applicable until further orders.
Following is the text of the notification issued by the FBR: S.R.O. 791(1)/2015.- In exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to sub-section (2A) of section 118 of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001 (XLIX of 2001), the Federal Government is pleased to direct that all individuals earning taxable salary income shall be liable to file their Income Tax returns electronically from Tax Year 2015 onwards. The condition of five hundred thousand rupees or more, as provided in the said sub-section shall not be applicable until further orders.
